2016 March 50 Results

George Manutoli finished first in today’s 50 mile race with an elapsed race time of 3 hours, 8 minutes, and 7 seconds and earned $2,100. Jim George finished second, with an elapsed time of 3 hours, 11 minutes, and 38 seconds and earned $1,900. Joe Demantle came in 3rd, with an elapsed time of 3 hours, 15 minutes, and 12 seconds, earning $1,700. There were a total of 11 mushers competing for a purse of $12,300. RE-PETE!

DSCF3589 (1)Pete Kaiser, 28, of Bethel is still the reigning K300 champion!  Pete crossed the finish line this morning at 11:06am with 7 dogs and was greeted by a throng of well-wishers, including his fiancee Bethany, son Ari, mom Janet, dad Ron, among many other family members and friends.  Pete is only the 4th person to win back-to-back Kuskokwim 300s.  He completed the 300-mile course from Bethel to Aniak and back in 40 hours, 36 minutes, and 21 seconds.  Pete will take home $25,000 and is also the winner of the Best in the West award.

Brent Sass, 35, of Eureka pulled in only 8 minutes behind Kaiser with 9 dogs at 11:14am for an elapsed race time of 40 hours, 44 minutes, and 8 seconds.  Sass will win $17,000 for his second place finish.  Finishing third was Joar Leifseth Ulsom, 28, of Mo I Rana, Norway, who arrived in Bethel at 11:22am.  Ulsom will take home $11,500.

The total race purse is $130,000 paid out over 20 places.
