Aniak-grown Richie Diehl is racing in his 7th K300. In 2012, he finished 4th and won the Best in the West award. Diehl won the Humanitarian Award in 2011 for his outstanding sportsmanship and treatment of his dogs. Richie has competed in the Iditarod for the past 3 years. In 2013, he raced as rookie and then in 2014 placed 14th and won the award for Most Improved Musher. He has also competed in the Aniak 150, Sheep Mountain 150, and Paul Johnson 450.
Diehl races for Aniak-based Real Diehl Racing. His family includes parents Dave and Esther, sisters Rainy and Dana, and girlfriend Emerie.
