Lance Mackey has been mushing for “a while” and has run a “couple thousand milers and 200, 300 and 400s.” To be more specific, he is a 13-time Iditarod competitor, a four-time Iditarod champion (’07, ’08, ’09, and ’10) and four-time Yukon Quest champion (’05, ’06, ’07, and ’08). He is the only musher to win both the Iditarod and Yukon Quest back to back, and the only musher to win the Iditarod 4 years in a row. Mackey has run the K300 four times, his best finish in 2010 when he placed 3rd and took home the Humanitarian Award.
